Video Device Drivers
Always ensure the latest driver software is installed for your video hardware. Running outdated drivers can reduce performance considerably, and newer drivers have consistently improved stability with Cue Pro.
Blackmagic Design: Always install the latest version of Desktop Video available for your version of macOS. Download from:

AJA: For two simultaneous 4K outputs on an AJA Kona 5, the card must be flashed with the 8K firmware variant instead of the 4K firmware. This firmware can be selected in the AJA Control Panel application.
Video File Formats
Cue Pro supports a thoroughly comprehensive range of video containers, codecs, frame rates & resolutions. Video playback performance can be compromised with heavily compressed video formats.
DAW MIDI Sync
Cue Pro can play back videos in sync with most DAWs (or other devices) that support MTC & MMC, including:

Integrated Pro Tools Mode
Cue Pro offers deep integration with Pro Tools through Integrated Mode, providing seamless transport sync, timeline positioning, and session awareness without requiring any DAW sync configuration.
- Integrated Mode: Pro Tools 2025.6 or later
Note: Integrated Mode is the easiest method for syncing Cue Pro with Pro Tools - beyond inserting the Cue Pro Connect plug-in, no further setup is required. For older Pro Tools versions, Media Mode via Satellite Link or MTC/MMC sync remains available and functional.
Pro Tools® & Satellite Link
Cue Pro can also integrate with Pro Tools® through Avid's
Satellite Link protocol.
Two configurations are supported: Cue Pro on the same computer
also running Pro Tools; and Cue Pro & Pro Tools running on
separate computer(s) on the same network.
- Satellite Link on the same computer: Pro Tools | Ultimate® 2021.3 or later
Note: Pro Tools Artist & Studio cannot run in Satellite Admin mode, and therefore are not supported in any Satellite Link configuration with Cue Pro.
- Satellite Link across two computers: Pro Tools | HD 11® or higher; Pro Tools | Ultimate® (any version).
Note: HDX or HD Native hardware are not strictly required when using only one Pro Tools system with Cue Pro. This requires at least Pro Tools 2020.12 Ultimate. An Ethernet network connection is stipulated by Avid when connecting more than one computer over a Satellite Link network.
- Larger Satellite Link network with up to 12 participants: At least one Pro Tools | Ultimate™ system with SYNC HD™ or Pro Tools | Sync X
Note: It is currently not possible to connect to Pro Tools on the same computer and to other Cue Pro Satellites at the same time.
