Cue Pro 26's new Rhythmo Bande overlay introduced anchors: precise sync points placed anywhere within a line. They also take the classic Line Based overlay a step further, cueing the performer on any word, not just at the start of the line.

The Primary Pre Roll tells the performer when to start the line. For a short line, that is all they need. Longer lines can need more: a second line of dialogue within the same ADR Cue, or a pause mid-line where the performer has to come back in at exactly the right time.

Previously, that meant splitting the line into separate ADR Cues or adding extra streamers by hand. Anchors are a better way to do the same thing.

Anchors in Line Based Mode

This video covers the basics: placing anchors, finding the precise sync point by ear, and moving or removing them as the line changes.

Place an anchor at the start of any word in a cue, and Cue Pro adds a Secondary Pre Roll Streamer that ends exactly on that word. The line stays in one piece, and each streamer belongs to the word it leads into. Or create two anchors around a space to define a pause within a cue.

Scrub an anchor against the audio to find the moment by ear, then relocate it to the playhead without deleting and re-adding it.

Already split a line into separate ADR Cues? Merge them, and Cue Pro adds anchors at the join points automatically, so the original timing carries over.

Set up the Secondary Pre Roll

The Secondary Pre Roll has its own settings, separate from the Primary Pre Roll. Set its default duration and color in Preferences. Direction, position and size work just like the Primary Pre Roll.
