ACTIVATING YOUR PACE LICENSE

ACTIVATING YOUR PACE LICENSE

With the release of Video Slave 4 and the first version of ADR Master, we decided to switch to industry-leading PACE software protection platform for perpetual licenses of our products. Using PACE, you can either move the license to one of your machines or you can move it to one of PACE's USB iLok keys (iLok 2 or iLok 3 are supported). This article contains a how to guide for those of you who haven't used iLoks or the PACE tools before.

What is an iLok key and what are the benefits?

An iLok is a copy protection dongle distributed by PACE Anti Piracy. Since the initial release of iLok 1 in the year 2000, PACE have released two more versions of the dongle - iLok 2 and iLok 3.

Each iLok can hold a large number of licenses (up to 1500 for iLok 3) from different manufacturers. Hence, it is easy to take all your licenses with you with just one physical USB dongle. If the iLok is attached, the licensed software will run on that system. As soon as it is unplugged, the software is no longer licensed.

Is an iLok absolutely required?

No, if you don't already have an iLok, there's no need to buy one just to license our products. You can also license the software to one of your computers.

I've purchased a license and got a PACE activation code, how do I proceed?

A PACE activation code is like a voucher which allows you to add a license to your PACE account. If you don't already have an account, you can create one for free at www.ilok.com.

To manage your licenses and to move them to either your machine or to an iLok, you will also need the iLok License Manager installed which can be downloaded from the same website. To activate the license using your activation code, just open the iLok license manager, log in to your account and enter (or copy-paste) the redemption code by clicking the "Redeem Activation Code" button at the top right of the main window.
